On runs that have either started or ended at my apartment building in Manhattan I have come across:
Dead people (twice), several bald eagles, coyotes (twice), a fox with either rabies or distemper, deer a quarter-mile from my home and on the island of Manhattan, numerous wild turkeys (including the famous Giuliani of Riverside Park), ravens, swans, people copulating in parked cars, two men having sex in a port-a-john, people peeing between parked cars (both sexes), people smoking crack, too many people to count smoking weed, people smoking, men unclothed in trees, a man dressed in a Spiderman costume jumping down from a lamppost, and countless rabbits, raccoons and skunks. Dogs have bitten me eight times. I have never been the victim of a crime, except leash laws that were being ignored.
